Philomena “Nina” Landolfi Fritz

Nina Fritz began her love of painting while living in Japan with her career military husband, Norman. Over the years, classes at various universities and the Philadelphia Museum of Art have strengthened and focused her innate creativity. Fritz paints commissioned pieces and weekly portrait impressions “a la prima” (from life). Her “Plein Air” work indulges her desires to paint live in progress out in the open.

Now internationally known, Fritz’s paintings hang in public buildings and private homes all over the world, including Japan, Italy, Sweden, Australia, and France. In 1979 her work was recognized when she was the first Gulf Coast artist chosen to submit work for the 112th Annual American Watercolor Society Show in New York City. In 1977 she was commissioned by Paramount Pictures to create several painting s for “The Truman Show” filmed in part in Seaside, Florida.

Friends and student of Nina describe her as inspirational, emphasizing not only her ability as an artist, but also the generous nature of her teaching. Glowing feedback from her workshops is a testament to her gentle mentoring of emerging artists, her intensive training in both drawing and paintings, and her infinite patience.
